Janet, did you ever meet Thorpe, because I did, I was at a meeting in Manchester by invitation of Cyril Smith, and when the flamboyant,  iffy Leader walked in and attempted to sit next to me, I did actually walk out of the meeting. I was proven right wasn't I?

But from current observations of Nick Clegg, in my opinion he is the best prospect in the Lib-Con Government, and he has my vote, and I do not give that lightly or in haste.

Seconded. Nick is (hopefully) a wiser man than I and perhaps there are things going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of (and necessarily so). But if we all did what we've been doing for so long only to toady up to our arch-enemy (and then be crushed by them) then the next week will be a terminally sad & tragic one for us all.

I'm keeping the faith though - leaders often have to do some pretty wierd things for the long-term good.

So Nick, please prove me right ... or slightly left of centre ;o) - and come out with electoral reform as the trophy. Without that, Labservative will rule UK forever & NOTHING will EVER change for the good. Saving Greece for one month will pale into insignificance compared to the longer-term harm UK, EC & our planet suffers.

as a lifelong Liberal voter I feel it is essential that we get a firm commitment and a date for either electoral reform legislation or a referendum on it. if Nick can't get ths from the Tories he MUST go to Labour who are desperate enough to agree to it. This is the only way we are ever going to get Liberals into power!! please don't just walk away on principle like Thorpe did
