Two beds

“What is it like to end up in bed with the Tories?" Shirley Williams: "Not one bed, two beds." The coalition is an experiment in grown-up government but must also be a launch pad for Liberalism, not a slide into decline.See More

The party has a problem. Is Engage the answer?

On 27th July, I wrote an opinion piece for Liberal Democrat Voice questioning the 'Engage' initiative. I examined at length the reasons for the hollowing out of politics in general and the Liberal Democrats in particular. Please read it here:http://www.libdemvoice.org/opinion-you-say-you-want-a-revolution-15752.htmlThe launch of Engage on ACT rather bears out my arguments. For example, the discussion on…See More

Not sure I can go along with the latest Tory policies coming out thick and fast, now they have us by the short and curlies. I warned that a Tory government would have consequences for the volunteer 'class' of people who have been sucked dry since Thatcher's 'Community Care' raised its ugly unfunded head. What's the BIG idea Cameron? Your volunteers are older, wiser and exhausted to be fooled anymore by you.

ACT has only recently started and people are still joining. But it does all seem like a medium in search of a message.

That's the problem with technology-driven intiatives - they approach things from the wrong end. ACT should have begun with a political purpose then chosen the appropriate media. I'm not clear what the purpose is.
