Draft Letter for Tim Farron, Party President

Please comment, amend etc.  I have based the structure upon our letter to Ming but as you can see, advanced our thinking.  Dear Tim, Thank you for your kind invitation to give you an overview of Say No to Trident, a group created on Lib Dem ACT and has almost 3000 supporters on facebook.  First of all, let me assure you that the active members are all Liberal Democrats; members, activists and supporters.  We are not some alien organisation, attempting to infiltrate the party (and yes, that…See More

Fringe Meeting 2011

It is that time of year again where we have the chance to leave the cloisters of the Internet and sally forth into the real world.First of all, the question has to be asked whether SNTT should hold a fringe at all? Personally I think we should. SNTT is an unique voice within the party. While others agree with us that nuclear weapons have to go eventually, few in positions of influence are saying that they should go now. Nuclear weapons are meanwhile endured as a necessary evil. Not by us my…See More

Hi Martin
After writing that comment i noted the date and then deleted it... well i thought i had.
As for time well that is the one thing i have plenty of, so yes happy to play with this and see how it turns out....

It may take some time as i am a slow worker.

Well start tomorrow.

Regards

Well done on the small but vital point - which was...!

Thanks for the suggestion re standing for a seat. Have you stood? If so, how was it for you?

Sorry to hear about your daughter. My wife's been laid low for a few days now.

I suspect you're underselling yourself on Trident. We're always our own harshest critics.

Yes, still invigorated. I'm seeing our Exec Committee this evening to thrash out a few ideas. Hackney feels like it should be ours!

I've written an op-ed piece which is going up here which I think may ruffle a few feathers at the top.

How are things with you?

Hi Martin. Yes, spot on. How are you? Come down yet to real life from conference?!

Martin, again i really appreciate your words and support- i like learning and whilst i have fears of making myself appear foolish i am so prepared to do it if it benefits me in the longer run- i joined a few forums initially and have dropped out from all aside from this one - as we are encouraged to voice our opinions, on other forums it felt it was 'myway or no way' i have to work with the nhs so am used to that philosophy but funny enough don't agree with it- i did make a serious misjudgement on one and foolishly upset someone who wasn't responsible so was abject in apology and embarrassed in thought - but hey we learn-

this site is good - and i feel welcome - not something i experience too often - so keep up the great work-

one of the thoughts i had was with 200 people and new ones seemingly daily was some sort of 'pyramid protest scheme' i.e. each member is encouraged to ask 10 friends/ relatives etc to sign a petition then each of those ten are again encouraged to ask as many people as poss to sign and so on and so forth - but not sure [a] how feasible that is [b] what we would actually do with the petition

i keep wondering what would gather more support polliticaly? i am not convinced about protests but can't think of a better option- made me wonder what motivates most politicians? votes and money - well the tories are in- is trident sufficiently both? what do you think?

cheers martin - i really appreciate your support

Dear Martin,
I wrote to all Bromsgrove party members last week re our resolution and since then 2 people have asked for more info on the motion, which I have sent asking them to use our email SNTT if they can sponsor and I has joined SNTT group (Dr George Gregg). If this is what 1 email can do, then do not despair. Can a member sponsor even if they will not be attending conference as a voting rep??
Best wishes,
Janet

Martin,
How dare you!!! Blackwell is nowhere near the Black Country (Wolverhampton, Bilston etc and so called because there were dense forests there at one time and not because it was full of furnaces as it was later). We are in semi-rural Worcestershire and close to bluebell /beech woods and llambs frollicking on the farms.
However, as you are not a geographer I`ll forgive you and suggest that we write something down. Could I email my first ideas directly to you so that the discussion forum does not have to read our many rough drafts of what has to be a vote winning policy motion. I`ll look up the time scale for this but I think we have time to do it justice. Do we ask for everyone`s email or just use the comments page here? Potentially 148+ people could be contributing!!

Dear Martin,
We are now 148 and growing by the day. You must be very pleased that there is a lot of support for the non-replacement of Trident even though this is contrary to the new coalition policy on defence.
We need to worknow on our policy motion and I wonder who to approach. Do we ask Duncan Brack for the benefit of his experience in these matters?
We`ll win...but it might take a little time!
