Beyond Banking

Recent events have re-enforced the awareness that our current financial system is not 'fit for purpose'. The concept that fractional banking can do anything more than create a system of debt, not just or the individual, but for nation states, has recently been shown to be true. As Liberals we should be seeking ways to develop systems that exist for the benefit of society as a whole. Our current financial system is clearly not capable of doing this and so we should now be addressing the question…See More

What do we stand for?

A frequent question that appears here, and elsewhere, is 'What do we stand for?'We seldom, if ever, answer the question. We stand for the individuals right to know thay they matter more than the state does.We beleive that any individual is free to beleive whatever they choose. We beleive that nobody has the right, or authority to tell us what to beleive. We beleive that no matter what happens and no matter who governs us, we have an unquestionable right to disagree with them in public without…See More

Taxing poverty

Did you know that from this year on you will be fined by HMRC for not submitting a tax return even if you are not liable to pay any tax?A wee change to the rules maybe, but from where I am this will mean that the people with the lowest income will now pay the highest penalties. It is also unsustainable. If I earn nothing and fail to tell the government then I will have less than the nothing I started with! This is a ridiculous idea.Nothing new there  then.Do we honestly support this?See More

When was that?

So when did the liberals think we should differentiate between us and them? Why did we forget what makes us liberals? The existence of the group worries me more than the intention! Is this not our world any more?See More

I would like to invite you all to Jimmy Reids wake. We may not have agreed with a lot of what he said, we may not have suffered the same tribulations, but as Liberals we should at least recognise his committment and honour his concern.Good bye Jimmy. The World has lost a hero.See More

Yes, knackered after work yesterday and fell asleep far too early. Got to be out the door in about an hour.
Thanks for the postings. SNTT tries to be active and encourages input and new ideas. And yep, we are pretty Liberal. We are not the only insomniacs on the group either.
