A New Dawn?

This is a repost of my blog post on my site viewsacrossthepondI have watched and ranted for the past few days at the TV and with friends about the way politics have been of late. It’s not been easy that’s for sure to watch my party, the Liberal Democrats, form an alliance with a party I admit to not liking. See for me, the Tories last time they were in power, saw my Dad loose everything. I vowed at the tender age of 13…See More

Don't let anyone tell you how to vote

It makes me laugh when I see the old vanguard desperatley trying to sway voters to vote for them to keep out one side or Vote the Liberal Democrats to keep out the other side.True, vote for Us, vote for the Liberal Democrats but don't do so because some desperate incumbent from Labour tells you so, do it because YOU want to.Our vote is our weapon - a peaceful and powerful weapon.I will always talk with people and explain why a vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for good and genuine change…See More

Why I support the Lib Dems

Thirteen years ago, at the age of 19, I voted Labour in. And ever since I have regretted that decision. I have not voted since but I am voting in this General Election and I am pledging my support to the Liberal Democrats. I have watched this government over the past 13 years destroy this country. Their erosion of civil liberties in the name of the War on Terror have not made this country safer but instead have alienated the very people we need to win the hearts and minds of if we are to combat extremism.

I have watched them enact 3000 + new laws which have made every cough and - excuse my wording - "fart" made a criminal act, while at the same time allowing the real criminals to get away with crimes under so called ASBO's - which as someone who worked in the Security Industry knows, they do not work. They are a badge of honour.

I have seen our current PM, as Chancellor destroy our economic backbone and as PM, preside over the biggest deficit this country has seen while arrogantly stating he can "save the world".

Not anymore.

This government is stale and harmful to this country.

Thirteen years ago I was still finding my political feet, and over these years I have found them. The only party in my view who has anything viable and truthful to say about the economy is the Liberal Democrats, the only party that cares about the erosion of civil rights is the Liberal Democrats, the only party that is fresh and has something to give is the Liberal Democrats.

Media does influence

Following the wake up call that Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats have given, it was no surprise that certain papers that support either Labour or the Tories, have started a smear campaign. The major one - so they thought - was the Telegraph's attempt to suggest Clegg had accepted questionable donations.

Of course this is all unfounded and Nick has said all this is public domain and declared - there is no story here.

The Telegraph has not been the only paper to do this.… Continue
