Lower Voting Age to 16

Why should age act as a barrier to those with a genuine interest in the way our country is run? End the disenfranchisement of teenagers throughout Britain who have been denied the opportunity to have a say on how our country is governed.

Lets Get a 'Yes' Vote in The Alternative Vote Referendum On May 5th 2011

For all those who are liberal and also want the voting system to be.The First Past The Post system hands power to the lucky few who live in marginal constituencies and sucks it away from the vast majority of us who do not.

NO2ID

NO2ID is a campaigning organisation. We are a single-issue group focussed on the threat to liberty and privacy posed by the rapid growth of the database state, of which "ID cards" were the most visible part. We are entirely independent.

In my case privatisation does mean worse! Private support workers don't work for much more than minimum wage and the quality of care for the service users will be much worse. I know its a measure that has to be taken and it would have been the same with the alternative government... its just the way it has to be! :(

I am thinking of going to the Autumn conference, but I don't know anyone! Might be fun.

I suppose as I have always been extrovert and blithely unconcerned, I forget how unconfident I may have been were it not for numerous school plays, debating societies, drama clubs and so forth, and the tendency of far too many older people to be unthinkingly (and loudly) liable to "put younger people down".
I'm no longer healthy enough (nor wealthy enough) to attend Conference, but keep in touch with what goes on as Conference is the sovereign body which decides Party Policy (though Leaders have a habit of being far ahead of the membership in terms of Party Strategy persuading us afterwards that they were right).
Please go on making linkages on here - it will give you a potential group of Conference-going friends - the YLs will probably be most helpful.
If you have yet to link up with them, you should. They are usually full of vim and vigour.
Pleased you have decided to take the World by the scruff of its political neck and are giving it a good shake.

I think I will be, you're right, it should be a blast. We will have to keep in touch until then so that we could meet up over the period its on.

It is so alarming that especially on social networking sites of any sort, respondents immediately look for adverse criticism in the simplest welcome.

Forget all the rest of my message which is not intended cynically/sarcastically at all, but encourages those who have come on board to contribute as positively as possible.

There is nothing wrong with your comments that I can see, but forums do seem to attract not contributors, but those who expect one way traffic of what the Party can do for them, rather than deciding what they can do for the Party.

Welcome on board.
