WILL THE GOVERNMENT EVERY LEARN THAT PEOPLE CANNOT BE CONSTANTLY PUSHED FURTHER AND FURTHER OVER THE LIMIT! WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND WE SHOULD ALL DO OUR PART - RICH AND POOR ALIKE - MAYBE THE GOVERNMENT WILL LOOK AT POLICY DECISIONS AT LOOK TO ALL OF US TO TAKE UP THE SLACK NOT JUST A FEW!

WE ALL NEED AND HAVE A RIGHT TO A CERTAIN STANDARD OF LIVING - IS IT UNFAIR TO WANT TO HAVE WORK, A WARM SAFE HOME AND GENUINE ACCESS TO OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP? WHY IS IT STILL A LUXURY FOR SO FEW OF US?

THE INCREASE ON VAT - 20% - WHY NOT 50%? HOW CAN WE BE MADE TO GIVE WHAT WE HAVEN'T GOT?

TARGETING THE DISABLED IS A TRAVESTY AGAINST FAIRNESS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE, WILL CLAIMANTS NEW AND EXISTING BEING ASSESSED BEFORE 2013 HAVE TO FACE A FURTHER MEDICAL ASSESSMENT? THIS IS A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE DETAILING YOUR DISABILITIES AND MOBILIY/MENTAL RESTRICTIONS - WHY ALWAYS LOOK AT THIS GROUP FIRST - COULD THE GOVERNMENT REDUCE CHILD BENEFIT ENTITLEMENT TO THE WEALTHY - SAY OVER ?100,000 INSTEAD - I REMEMBER PRINCESS DIANA SAYS THAT EVEN SHE WAS ENTITLED TO THIS PAYMENT WHICH SHE GAVE TO CHARITY!!!

________________________________________________________________________
WELFARE TO WORK CHANGES - WHY IS THE COALITION LOOKING AT SUCH VULNERABLE GROUPS FIRST? I THOUGHT THEY SAID PRE-ELECTION THEY WOULD TARGET NEW CLAIMANTS NOW ITS ALL CLAIMANTS[ VERY POOR SHOW!!! I HOPE THE POWERS THAT BE WITH LOOK AT NOT JUST IF CLAIMANTS ARE CAPABLE OF WORKING BUT WHERE YOU CAN SUSTAIN IT. DISABILITIES OFTEN DETERIORATE OVER TIME AND WORK IS NOT THE BEST ENVIRONMENT WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY DEMANDS ON WHAT WORKERS ARE EXPECTS TO DO. rant over:-________________________________________________________________________
HELLO ALL, I'M ABBIE AND JUST BECOME A LD MEMBER.
I AM ENJOYING READING ABOUT ALL YOU GUYS AND WHY YOU ARE LD'S.

I AM VERY LUCKY AS I LIVE IN ORKNEY, WHICH AS BEEN LD FOR YEARS AND WE HAVE THE BEST MP IN ALISTAIR CARMICHAEL AND MSP, LIAM MCARTHUR. THEY ARE BOTH REALLY COOL AND REALLY DO A LOT OF GOOD HERE, WHICH IS NOT TYPICALLY I FAIR OF MANY POLITICIANS.

I AM A HONOURS GRAD IN SOCIAL POLICY AND CRIMINOLOGY - MY MAIN POLICY INTERESTS ARE SOCIAL INCLUSION, MINORITY/IMMIGRATE INTEGRATION AND ELDERLY ISSUE. I HOPE THAT I CAN USE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS I HAVE BUILT UP TO HELP THE PARTY UNDERSTAND THE REAL NEEDS OF VULNERABLE GROUPS AND HOW THEIR PROTECTION CAN HELP PROMOTE THEIR INCLUSION IN OUR SOCIETY AND GIVE THEM THE SUPPORT AND CONFIDENCE TO ENTER AND SUSTAIN THEMSELVES AS WORKERS WITHIN OUR ECONOMY . LECTURE OVER - HA HA!

IF I HAVENT BORED YOU TOO MUCH WITH MY RAMBLING - I HOPE YOU WILL SEND ME A MESSAGE AND LET ME KNOW ABOUT YOU AND WHY THE LD'S ARE SO AWESOME.

BYE FOR NOW.

LOVE

ABBIE.

Well, from my own particular recent LGBTQI human rights activity… so far Clegeron government claims to being proactive the needs and rights of LGBT folk has disappointingly proven empty rhetoric…

I have had no response from Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone MP… and... have been bureaucratically sloughed off by the Equality & Human Rights Commission without advice as which Clegeron government department I need contact… vis-a-vis an enquiry on behalf of a fellow Bermudian UK passport holder as to the legal status in the United Kingdom-and also on Bermuda-of a civil same-sex marriage conducted under the Canada Civil Marriage Act 2006 between a Canadian citizen and a Bermudian UK passport holder...

In the UK there is definitely no VAT on food except when eaten in restaurants. In terms of narrowing the opportunity gap, we did manage to get the Tories to give some ground on capital gains tax and the rise in the personal allowance is a big step forward, though we need some more rises for the lowest paid.
We need to encourage small businesses by getting rid of over regulation and some of the ill thought out and badly drafted laws that have been imposed by Labour. Make sure you send in some suggestions to Nick.

Hi Abbie, surely the level of council tax in Scotland is a Scottish government issue, nothing to do with Westminster. There isn't any VAT on food either, and the tax levy on the banks amounts to much more than all the bonuses put together. The banks were bailed out because the government didn't think we'd want a collapse of the banking system.

hello Abbie
Good evening from Toulouse,
sorry for the delay,I have lot problem on my computer!!!

yes, indeed, once again it will be the poorest and middle class who will bear the brunt of budget cuts. I have many English collegues( Airbus Industry) who are very angry with the installation of this coalition, they have voted LibDem or Conservative, but those who are most angry are Libdems.

They blame N Clegg to have yielded a lot of things in relation to these campaign promises, especially around the issue of European and immigration, the access to the education for poor children, health, since the budget cuts will mainly concern utilities
what do you think about it?
sorry, my english is not good!
Bye
Livia

Hi Abbie, thanks for your comment on my page.

I agree with you that it's hugely important to assess people according to their day-to-day needs, particularly if they have a fluctuating condition. My responsibilities within the DWP relate to pensions rather than welfare reform, but I will give my views where the opportunity arises in ministerial meetings.

Best wishes,
Steve W.

Hi Abbie, Thanks for the welcome. I have been to Orkney once about 10 years ago. Spent a sunny Saturday in Kirkwall and really enjoyed it. Like you I have a lot of issues that concern me. I joined the party as I was disappointed in the lack of LD activity in my area. There is now an Ayrshire group on here so hopefully that will change. Social problems here are huge like many small towns across the country. I do not have one single major issue but many! Would like to see a wider range of people involved in politics. What is the welfare to work axe? Excuse my ignorance but just finished exams so studying instead of keeping up with affairs has taking priority in the past few weeks.

I am 35, married and have two kids aged 8 and 6. I am in 2nd year at Strathclyde Uni doing Politics + History. Spent the past couple of years doing HNC and HND Social Science.
I enjoy socialising and having a laugh. I would like to see a wider range of people in politics from gender, race, social background and age. The way the system has worked and the way the media has portrayed it for so long has had a negative affect on many.
homelessness, lack of local industry, inadequate care for the ill and elderly (+families), sectarianism, racism, greed, 3rd generation unwillingness to work (I don't blame the people but the govt), anti social behaviour, justice system....I could go on and on. On a positive note I am an optimist and hopefully getting more people involved can contribute towards change.
I am hoping to go to the Conference and will try my best to get there.
I feel like I have just gone on and on and on ....sorry!
Speak to you soon
Anne

Hi Abbie,

I work with mental health service users in Rochdale. Where do you work? Yes, like you I'm hoping that the Lib Dems in Government will prevent the Conservatives from becoming too extreme. But I fear that, because of the deficit, some very hard decisions will have to be made. We must keep speaking up for the most vulnerable.

Hello! I thought election time was really exiting! Although I don't think the lib dema got as much as we should have got! But I think we had to do it to show we can govern., don't u think? I have been a member of the Lambeth party since 2005 and am member of the executive committee. I am also a governor in a primary school in Peckham, and it is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I got to mee the prince of Wales, the school is doing so well. But it is all because of the headteacher who is a star! Are u thinking of getting in olved with ur local party?
