Following this evening's vote on tuition fees in England and our party's policy regarding the same, it occurs to me that Silvio Berlusconi will (hopefully) be out of a job on 15th December - so perhaps as an accomplished liar, dissembler, hypocrite and "communicator" he'd be welcome amongst Lib Dems tonight. The issue with the EU is about its effectiveness versus its cost. The idea of a free trade area is good, but an organisation which is unable to pass a financial audit, spends money like it is going out of fashion and pays its people far in excess of any market rate is doomed to failure. Brussels expense excesses put the Westminster excesses into pocket money. As I understand it they are now asking for a 6.5% rise in budget this year. They must have at least a 5% cut and join the real world.
Let us examine the outcomes of this organisation!
