Lib Dem Act

In case anyone here is interested here is a blogpost I have done today where I have reviewed the talk that Professor David Nutt (former head of the ACMD before Alan Johnson fired him) that he gave in Reading last week.

I also interviewed him afterwards and have posted the video here.

It is clear to me from what he said during his talk and in response to questions that he favours decriminalisation along the Portuguese lines. Indeed he actually states this in my interview with him. I think it is significant that someone until recently at the heart of the government's drug advisory body should have come to such a conclusion. They can keep sacking 'em but they can't ignore the evidence forever.

At his lecture at Kings College London, I asked him how he or the ACMD should deal with contamination of drugs. He recommended cannabis coffee shops as a way to deal with contamination of cannabis.

Now although coffee shops in their current form are decriminisation (as the supply is still illegal), the fact he was answering a question about 'contamination' - something that you can't really get rid of unless you control and regulate the supply, would suggest that he's actually advocating a form of legalisation.

I have the video of the Kings College London lecture but I'm not sure it's still available online. It's quite long
Very encouraging - I do notice, however, that everybody has a different idea as to the way forward, this is why vigorous debate remains a necessary

I, for instance, take an exception to marijuana being included with some gruesome chemical horror; and think it should be treated separately

This doesn't mean that I'm not aware there is a more general problem

Who are the 'Grandees' who dared reject the peoples motion? Don't you think Cromwell and Ireton would have had better things to do?

They must obviously be brought around or replaced
Again I ask: what do all of our political servants gain from keeping gangsters in business?
