Please take a look at what we have been doing in Scotland. There have been two very successful events at the Scottish Parliament - last week we launched LGBT History Month at which we saw videos made by young LGBT people entitled "It Gets Better" [Google it for all the links] and last night we had an Equal Marriage event attended by 400+ people at which members of all five Scottish Parties spoke, all in favour of Equal marriage including our own Willie Rennie!

See below for all the links to organisations & events in Scotland -

If you recall, last year the Scottish Youth Parliament made their Campaign of the year "Equal Marriage" - they have been very active on this and very supportive! Well done SYP!

Enjoy!

I respect you all and the campaigns having friends that are in same sex relationships. I am campaigning for Body Modification to be incorporated as Belief and a protection in Equality law as there is no protection for people who alter the body and am pushing Lynne Featherstone and Ed Davey on this. Good luck to you all.

long story but writing this from a hospital bed in bulgaria.  Just a reminder that Readings Pride Festival takes place on 3rd September this year (www.readingpride.co.uk) and i am hoping that many of you may want to help walk in the parade, help on the stall and of course enjoy the day.  The event averages about 15k attendance over the day.  Political parties all attend but none seem orgainsed or in great numbers - it would be great if we were 'Blatent not latent'.  Please contact me if youre able to help

I think group members may be interested in this item which I received from our Equality Network - quote

Scottish Youth Parliament choose marriage equality as their national campaign

We’re very happy to report that the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) met at the weekend to choose their national campaign for this year, and chose

Marriage Equality – to allow same-sex couples to marry, and extend civil partnerships to heterosexual couples.

This campaign will be the main focus of the SYP’s political activity until March 2012. You can read more on the SYP website here:

http://www.syp.org.uk/choosing-a-national-campaign-for-syp-W21page-...

In the Scottish Parliament, SNP MSP Marco Biagi (Edinburgh Central) put down a motion yesterday welcoming the SYP’s decision:

S4M-00276 Marco Biagi: Scottish Youth Parliament to Campaign for Marriage Equality

That the Parliament celebrates its long and close working relationship with the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP); notes that the SYP represents young people aged 14 to 25 from all across Scotland; further notes that, at its annual general meeting on 11-12 June 2011, the SYP chose to make marriage equality for same-sex couples its priority campaign for the coming year; awaits the opportunity for what it considers to be the wide range of views held on this subject to be expressed when the Scottish Government formally launches its consultation, and encourages the SYP, as part of its campaign, to play a full and proper role in this process.

This move on the part of the SYP has already received the support of four MSPs.

I will keep you all posted about the progress of this campaign.
