What's this all about?

This is a group for anyone who's an election agent or campaign organiser for the Liberal Democrats. It doesn't matter whether you're a staff member or a volunteer, or how long you've been doing it, or even if you're just interested in finding out more!

What has always seemed to me to be quite difficult to achieve but essential in any organisation is the Meeting, Greeting & Managing strategy to be central to learning how to befriend not just other members, especially newbies, but interested members of the public who decide to explore - the equivalent of a firm handshake (yes, I'm that old-fashioned), a smile, and a formulation which says "Have A Nice Day" without sounding as though you have been trained by McDonald's.
I'll try to draft something (one side of A4 in 14 point), and probably in Bullet Point format - could be useful for training canvassers if such a document does not already exist.
Any leads ? Haven't got a copy of the Agents' Manual yet.

Chris - thank you!

Olga - yes! Anyone can volunteer as much as they want for free!

However, each constituency needs one person to act as Election Agent, which is a role with particualr legal obligations. Sometimes a staff member is the Agent, sometimes it's a volunteer. The Agents & Organisers Association exists to support those people, and as part of that service we produce an Agents Manual with all the information people need in it. But unless you happen to be one of those people, it's not hugely relevant to you.

hmm. I didnt realize that you need to pay to be a volunteer!
am I missing something?

Am looking for a place you can print off a copy of Lib Dem posters
or leaflets. Is there a main place/area you can access that from
Maybe other people ideas for posters so you could have a choice of what you wanted to print/copy

Who could be good to contact?

Chris - Yes, anyone who joins will receive a copy in the post

John - At present the only way to get the Manual is to join the Agents Association. In past General Elections, an arrangement has been made to make the Manual more widely available. I anticipate some arrangement will be made this time as well, though I'm not sure what, or when.

I'm not an agent or an organiser but I am the local party treasurer. Is it possible to get a copy (printed or pdf) of the new Agents Manual without paying to join AOA?

The new Handbook is great - it's really useful to have all those things together in one booklet, instead of a plethora of folders on my shelf.

A few of my fellow agents in Northants aren't members of the AOA yet - if they join, will they also get a printed copy of the manual? And if not, can they buy one?

Great to have the new Handbook. It looks and reads well. Looking forward to now checking against the legislation for Northern Ireland!
